Contents:	Linear structure of euclidean inner product space; basis, dimension, subspace and orthogonality. Linear system of equations and Gauss-Jordan algorithm. Linear mapping and its matrix. Determinant.
Learning outcomes:	By passing the course the student have to: - be able to solve groups of linear equations by the method of Gauss and Jordan and analyze the solution sets. - know the structure of euclidean spaces, specially subspaces, linear mappings, matrices and determinant, as well as the connections between various concepts. - know the concepts like linear dependence, basis and dimension as well as be able to clear up the linear independence of the given vector sets, form basis for given subspaces and determine the dimensions of subspaces. - be able to use the geometric structure of euclidean spaces with help of the inner product, form an orthonormal basis of a given subspace by the method of Gram and Schmidt and calculate orthogonal projections of vectors onto subspaces. - know the definitions of central concepts and produce proofs for basic results in linear albegra, if necessary.
Prerequisites:	MATP100 Introduction to Mathematics.
Registration:	In Korppi.
Selection procedure:	All accepted.
Modes of study:	Lectures 54 h, exercises 22 h ja instruction 22 h (in Finnish).
Completion mode:	Two mid-course examinations (in Finnish)
Course workload:	Guided studies 98 h, private work 100 h.
Schedule:	Lectures 54 h from Mon 16.9. 9-12, thereafter on Mon 10-12, Tue 12-14 and occasionally Wed 14-16.
