Contents:The course deals with protein structure, folding and dynamics. Basic principles of following techniques are studied: determination of biological macromolecule structure by x-ray crystallography, NMR spectrocopy and electron microscopy techniques. A special focus is how to use structural data obtained by various techniques in interpreting and modeling of the structures.
Learning outcomes:After the completion of the course, student understands:
- how protein structure affects into cellular functionality
- basics of methods for protein structure determination
- how protein structures can be employed in research at cell- and molecular biology, biochemistry etc.
Completion mode:Practices, lectures, group discussions, research project, where literature and protein structure data is employed. Attendance in compulsory in the group discussions.
