- It''s possible to complete all the major courses (except Research Seminar, Master''s Thesis and optional advanced studies) during the first year in Master''s studies. All these courses are lectured in English.
-
! Advanced Studies in Environmental Management, 85 op
-
! Compulsory advanced studies, 65 op

! Optional advanced studies, 20 op
- Optional studies may be chosen freely according to the personal research interests of the student. It is assumed that the research seminar will help the students to select the courses for optional studies. Optional studies may, for example, include courses from other subjects in the School of Business and Economics and Renewable Energy programme. Also, optional studies may include courses from the studies completed abroad. In addition, participation in conferences or summer schools related to environmental management might be assigned a number of ECTS credits, although it has to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Optional advanced studies must be negotiated with the professor of CEM and they should be scheduled for the second year.
-
! Compulsory advanced studies, 65 op
-
! Minor Studies, 25 op
-
It is compulsory for every student to have at least one minor. If the student has completed minor studies both in a) basic business studies and b) environmental sciences in the Bachelor''s/ polytechnic studies, minor can be chosen freely. If one (or both in some special cases) of the two is missing, that has to be completed as a minor (minors) during the Master''s studies.
Basic business studies include four compulsory courses (total 28 ECTS). These courses are lectured both in Finnish and in English.
Basic environmental studies include five compulsory courses and at least 2 ECTS of optional courses (total 25 ECTS). Most of the courses in Environmental Sciences are lectured in Finnish, so international degree students mainly complete them with book exams.
